Rewrite history in this turn-based strategy game

Civilization V is a turn-based strategy game that allows you to take a civilization from its birth, through history and into the future - if you survive that long!

This is a highly-anticipated game, and Civilization V shakes things up with a world divided into hexagons instead of squares, while combat units can no longer be piled up on a single square. The interface is smooth, although its stylized artwork still feels a little 90s.

Civilization V isn't designed for impatient players. The game has a relaxed pace, and requires you to painstakingly build your empire and civilization city by city, experience by experience. Fans will love Civilization V's improvements and depth, and newcomers will soon get dragged into what can be an incredibly addictive title.

For all the improvements, compared to other PC strategy titles, the graphics are a bit weak, and the speech is terribly wooden. Enemy AI is also hardly improved, and makes bizarre decisions sometimes! More sensible opposition can, of course, be found in online multiplayer games.

Civilization V is the best of the series, but its slow pace and style don't feel very modern.

Changes

Mac now supports cross platform multiplayer with PC. Advanced game settings automatically save. Notes Pacing has received a large amount of work. Expect to have more of a challenge managing your empire at higher difficulty levels than you did before. Consider dropping a difficulty level if you have problems. Existing saves will work correctly. However, the balance pass may make your existing happiness lower than expected when loading into your existing save post-patch.Graphics Fixed an issue that was not allowing the Americas building set to display properly. If a 3D leaderhead scene cannot be created, fallback to 2D. Update to river color, texture, and shader.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.
